Research Notes
- Wingham, Kent — same parish as Stephen Eastes Kendall, Ann Forstall, and William John Kendall. The Kendalls, Forstalls, and Lamberts were all from the same small community.
- Married in Eastry — Eastry is a village ~5 miles from Wingham. Ann Forstall also died in the Eastry registration district (1875).
- 12 children — John H. (born 1870) was likely one of the younger children, given Eliza was 43 at his birth.
- 1881 in Ash, Kent — she was still in Kent in 1881. The family may have emigrated to Minnesota in the 1880s, not the 1850s as previously assumed. Or she returned to England for a period.
- Lambert is a common English surname in Kent. No evidence of French or other non-English origin.
- Parents still unknown — search Wingham parish registers for baptism of Eliza Lambert c. January 1827.
